Where the photos meet the tree.
Scan the shoebox, build the family tree, and hang every photograph on the people in it and the year it was taken.
The Shoebox Years is by invitation. If a relative has invited you, sign in with the email address they used.
Photographs, people and the years between
Build the tree
Add people, parents and partners as you learn about them. Nothing is final — amend a date or a name whenever a relative puts you right.
Hang the photographs
Tag the faces in a scan once and it appears on every person's page. A photograph with nobody named yet is a question for the next family visit.
Walk the years
Pin each picture to a year, or a best guess, and the timeline lines up who was where, and how old they were, when it was taken.
Every photograph knows who is in it.
Name the people in a picture and it hangs itself on the right branch. Open anyone on the tree and you see every photograph they were ever in, in order.
Start with the box on top of the wardrobe.
Ten photographs and three names is enough to begin. The rest of the family can fill in what you don't know.
